What is Bulletproof Coffee:
I started drinking bulletproof coffee while on the Whole 30. It’s a mixture of black coffee, grass fed butter and coconut oil. While the idea of mixing butter and coconut oil sounds a little disturbing, it is seriously delicious.
The original Bulletproof coffee recipe was designed by Dave Asprey who claims that drinking your coffee this way can boost brain performance and aide in weight loss. A win-win in my opinion 🙂
It is a hefty dose of healthy fats first thing in the morning, so it’s recommended that you replace your normal breakfast/coffee if you do plan on drinking this.
I’ve been drinking it for a while now, not every single morning, but regularly and it’s definitely a game changer. I have noticeably more energy on the mornings I do drink it and I don’t get hungry mid morning which is always nice because I’m not much of a snacker. So on that note…
My Bulletproof Coffee Recipe:
- 1 cup black coffee
- 2 tbsp grass fed butter (or ghee if you’re on the Whole 30)
- 2tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla
- dash of cinnamon
Blend all the ingredients together for 20-30 seconds until frothy. Do not just mix this, it definitely needs to be blended to get the right consistency.
On days I’m feeling fancy I also like to add a bit of frothed coconut milk on top with an extra dash of cinnamon.
