While I was home I was able to talk my mom into going to Chicago for the day. Man, do I love that place. I just can’t imagine anyone not wanting to live in a city (cough cough, boyfriend). I feel like I could walk around a city like that forever. All of the people, the hustle, the tall buildings surrounding all the sidewalks and just the overall energy excites me. It was a pretty great day overall (minus the bit of a hangover from drinking too much wine/champagne upon my arrival home with my mom the night before).
We took the train from Michigan City which I guess is a 2 hour ride, but it goes super quick so it felt like maybe an hour. Then literally the second we stepped off the train my cell phone died (my mom doesn’t have one) so that was a little annoying, but refreshing at the same time. We had lunch and then spent the majority of our time just walking around. We went into a few shops, but only ended up buying some stuff at Home Goods. Eventually we made our way to Millenium Park – which I had never been, so it was nice to see what every one talks about, especially in regards to that bean thing (it really is pretty darn cool). Annnd the trees around the park/city this time of year were beyond gorgeous, the bright yellows and reds, were extremely picturesque, not that my photography skills got that point across though. Some how without a cell phone or even a watch our day was timed perfectly and it was seriously a great trip. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my Friday – in the city, just me and my mom 🙂
