A little life update for you all today.

Can’t say it’s all too exciting, but I guess that can sometimes be a good thing. These are some of my favorite posts to do because it helps me to look back on the past month which is kind of fun. Anyways, here ya go. Hope you are all having a great week!

going…No where exciting at the moment. Trying to talk Brand into doing a quick weekend trip up North in a couple of weeks. Just to get a bit of the real fall weather feels. We shall see. Other than that no trips planned until end of October which will be back to the Mitten again for a football game.

reading…After finally making my way through The Happiness Project, I wanted something easy to read that wasn’t too thought provoking. Haha. Anyways, I chose P.S. From Paris. It’s a super cute love story that I actually finished quite quickly. So if you are in the mood for something easy going, I’d recommend it.

loving…Rodan + Fields Essentials Foaming Sunless Tan. By far one of the best self tanners I’ve used. This may be premature because I’ve only used it twice, but it is so incredibly easy to use and I haven’t had any streaking. No streaking is basically a miracle for me when it comes to sunless tanning, so I’m sold. Have any of you tried this?

eating…Nothing really new or exciting. I did rediscover my love for oatmeal, so that is good. And I’ve been eating my “fried rice” for lunch everyday again (my absolute favorite). So basically just going back to old habits in the eating world. Oh, but the good news is, I haven’t had ice cream in about two weeks. If you know me, you know ice cream is my absolute weakness, but I was eating way too much of it and needed to quit. Feeling physically horrible (again) after eating it I decided to just stop. I want to quit all dairy and haven’t had any cheese since then either, but I know it’s still sneaking it’s way into my diet, so I just need to be more aware.

drinking…Water and Mango La Croix. So again, nothing new or exciting.

watching…Friends. I never really watched Friends before, I mean I caught episodes here and there, but never committed. I needed something to watch a few weeks ago and decided I would start Friends from the beginning. It really is one of the best. No matter what mood I am in, I am guaranteed to laugh when watching it and for that I love it.

working…on my thought process mostly. Per below, I’ve gotten into this podcast and it really makes me think. For a while now I’ve been getting into the whole idea that what we think and tell ourselves basically controls every aspect of our lives, so I really want to work on this. Staying positive, focused, present and grateful are my main goals at the moment and it seems to be working quite well. I’m excited to delve more into this whole concept.

listening…The Life Coach School Podcast. I just started listening to it this past week and once again started from the very beginning. Brooke Castillo who is the host was interviewed on another podcast I listened to and I loved the interview and her thoughts, so I decided to give her podcast a listen. From what I listened to so far it is all about controlling your thoughts. It’s so good. If you want to take a listen I recommend listening to Ep# 9, It Doesn’t Get Better Than This. Eye opening.

buying…all the fall things. Obviously. Several things from September’s What I Want post has made it’s way into my wardrobe, including these boots and this bag. Now if only the temperature would drop so I’m not dying when I wear boots. P.S. it’s supposed to be only 89 on Friday. You have no idea how happy this makes me. Not quite fall weather, but closer.

planning…on changing things up on the blog…looks wise anyways. Not being able to spend a million dollars on designing it the way I want to makes it really hard though (eyeroll), so I’m trying to figure that out. But planning on having it up within the next couple of months hopefully.

wondering…how it’s only Wednesday. Pretty sure it should be Thursday at this point and the fact that I woke up thinking that, it’s going to make the real Thursday a bitch to get through.

feeling…good and energized. After being in Michigan for a week it was rough getting back to normal life, especially with summer dragging on. Few weeks later, I’m starting to feel back to normal and it feels good. Although, I’m totally ready for another vacation.

I love these posts too, Shannon! I’ve been struggling through my decision of continuing to blog or not:( That has been tough for many reasons but I really want to come back to it! One of the things I’d like to do going forward is something similar to this type of post because I find them so meaningful and relatable. I’m working on devising my own unique format and interpretation of the “what I’ve been doing” updates.
Regarding the dairy…I feel you! The one thing I struggle with is my coffee. I did black for a while but I just didn’t love it so dairy has crept back into my java. I think we are living in a world that is always pushing images of perfection and lifestyles of absolute discipline & beauty that we feel like we failed if we do something like eat or drink dairy. I’m trying to straighten this out in my head. One thing I know is you look fabulous so try not to beat yourself up.
Anyway, thanks for always inspiring me.
    XO! Gina

Gina! So glad to see you back in this online world. I say stick with the blogging! You’ve always inspired me and your content is always great (especially your writing). If it’s something you enjoy, you need to keep going. It is definitely hard work and frustrating as hell to say the least, but it’s a creative outlet I need these days.
Quitting dairy is ROUGH! I’m not going to say vanity doesn’t play a part, but there are definitely physical pain when I eat certain things. Not sure if it is the dairy, but it’s worth cutting out and seeing. I can only DREAM of having your eating habits. XOXO

You should get some! It really is one of the best sunless tanners I’ve used.
